• Bill graduated from Vanderbilt University and served as a 1st lieutenant with the Airborne Rangers.

• After the Army, Bill returned to Birmingham and began his business career with a division of the Martin Marietta Corporation. He later started his own company, Precision Grinding, Inc.

• Bill Cabaniss served in the Alabama House of Representatives from 1978 to 1982 and the Alabama State Senate from 1982 to 1990.

• Bill was the United States Ambassador to the Czech Republic from 2004 to 2006.
