As I reflect on the last 40 days, even the last 10 days, my soul must praise the Lord. I must extol the God of my salvation. Let these verses still, warm and fill your heart.

Psalm 92:1-2 “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning and Your faithfulness by night.”

Psalm 95:1-3 “Oh come let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.”

Psalm 98:1 “Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things! His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him.”

And what am I so thankful for today? God is enough. God is sufficient. He will never leave me or forsake me.

But He has also demonstrated His presence, His goodness and His provision over the last few weeks. One example is your faithfulness to give. I am constantly amazed, humbled and grateful each year. This year was no exception. 2019 was one of our best years financially.

We hired a full time WBL Director. Amy Pattillo did an amazing job serving in this role part-time; but now we can build on that foundation by the hire of August Griffith. She recently worked as the Business Development Manager for Warren Averett CPA’s and Advisors. Now August is poised to help us take the next steps in reaching women in the marketplace.

Then we had our Rick Burgess 2nd Half Rally on January 23rd. We had just under 300 men from over 40 churches. The response was tremendous. Close to 60 men want studies, 32 want to be mentors, and scores of men want to know how to serve God’s Kingdom. In addition, many inquired about how to be involved in 2nd Half, grow in their identity in Christ and strengthen their relationship with Him.

But there are also other verses that ring true to me today.

Psalm 119:50 “this is my comfort in my affliction, that Your promise gives me life.”

Psalm 119:71 “It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes.”

Psalm91:14,15 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him…”

I have been less than healthy for over a week. Many of you have been there. This morning the Lord reminded me, “Be content where I have you. Rest, reflect, work as much as you are able, and trust Me.” Sounds simple. Some of life is not that complicated. Trust and Obey.

Thank you for being on this journey with me. Join me in being content, yet at the same time looking for God to do great things.
