If any being could be proud—it would be God.  He is the biggest, the wisest, the smartest, the fastest, and the strongest.   He is holy, mighty and exalted! He is beyond our comprehension!

He is the One who “could be” proud– while we have no rational reason to be proud!  He is perfect.  We are flawed.  The irony is that God IS humble—and we ARE proud.

The great news is that God is drawn to those who choose to humble themselves—rather than exalt ourselves.  In fact, God humbles the proud, and He exalts the humble!

One of my favorite Bible verses is Is. 57:15

For thus says the high and exalted One
Who lives forever, whose name is Holy,
“I dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.

What we learn from this verse is that God is high and exalted…yet He comes to those who humble themselves before Him and call out to Him…as children….as those in need!

This is great news!   God is drawn to the humble.  He meets with them.  He supplies for their needs.  He comforts them.   He draws near to them. We serve an awesome God—who is also humble!    Let us….humble ourselves and draw near to Him!
