We live in a society that encourages people to pursue whatever makes them happy. As Christians it’s tempting to fall into the opposite extreme of complete self-denial in an attempt to pursue holiness, however the Lord, who desires obedience from and sanctification for His people, also created pleasure. While we can experience pleasure here on earth, our ultimate and eternal happiness is only found in Christ. “Holiness and happiness were never intended to be pitted against each other. On the contrary, growth in holiness increases happiness.” You can read more on this topic in Amy Dimarcangelo’s article, “Happiness and Holiness Aren’t Mutually Exclusive” by clicking here.
