Mark 10:45 – For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

As I thought about the quote my mind immediately went to the chaos and crisis that seems to dominate the news headlines today. Sure, we can turn the news off and not look at the news apps on our phones, but that does not make the chaos and crisis go away. We are as divided as ever before and as believers, we can hide out and quietly live our Christian life and never get to experience the opportunity to give back to our neighbors, coworkers and community or we can begin to connect our lives to the world around us that needs us to make a difference for the cause of Christ. We cannot live as if everything is okay or normal. It’s not! We can make a difference.
We, as believers, have a responsibility to be God’s hands and feet here on earth. We have the opportunity to help in the rescue of people that are not in relationship with Christ.
- Acknowledge the crisis in our world and pray
Ask God to allow you to see those that are hurting and those that are without Christ all around you through His eyes. When we begin to see things through the eyes of Jesus it will change how we view the world around us.
- Acknowledge that as a believer, you are strategically placed where you are to make a difference
Use that platform well. God has put you right where you are. He wants to use you to make a difference in the lives of people that live and work around you.
- Commit to live a life of service
One of the great ways to live in a world that is in the shape that ours is in is to practice doing something good for someone. Serve someone just as Jesus did. It ought to be the way that we live. As we go, we look for opportunities to do something good for someone else. This is not the norm in our world today. We get too busy and we miss the opportunities right in front of us to point people toward Jesus as we live out our faith every day.
A great opportunity stands right on front of you and me. I do not want to pretend everything is normal. I want to do what I am called to do and allow my life to be used to help in the rescue of the perishing.
