Matthew 25:23 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little. I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’”
Dear friends March 1, 2018
I think we have all been touched with the death of Billy Graham. He had a significant impact on my mother’s life and therefore my life. In his final crusade in New York City a Charisma Magazine reporter asked him for what he wanted to be remembered. Graham replied quietly: “I want to be remembered as a person who was faithful to God, faithful to my family, faithful to the Scriptures, and faithful to my calling… a man who dedicated his life to the Lord and never looked back.”
Isaiah and Jeremiah were two major prophets that were faithful to share God’s message even though the people of God did not listen. In Jeremiah 1:17,19 God says, “But you, dress yourself for work, arise and say to them everything and that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them. They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you.”
Paul and the disciples (apart from Judas) lived lives of faithfulness. Eleven of the twelve were martyred. Only John escaped execution, and he was exiled.
We serve a God who is a covenant-keeping, faithful God. When I think of the attributes of God I treasure, His faithfulness is always near the top. He is holy, sovereign, gracious, loving, long-suffering, and yes, faithful. He is worthy of praise, honor and glory! How can I thank Him enough?
All of us are closer to eternity than we were yesterday. We don’t know when we will meet the Lord: when He returns or when we are ushered out of this life into the next. Every one of us who know Christ personally wants to hear the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
It is a humbling reality that God has been so faithful to me. He is committed to my good. He is committed to finishing the good work that He began in me. He is committed to transform me. I will be spotless, holy and blameless in His sight. That is a wonder among wonders!
Thank you for your faithfulness to this ministry and to me these 34 years. There have been many changed lives, many restored relationships, and many ushered into His Kingdom. Our most recent banquet is no exception, as we have seen people respond to the faithful sharing of God’s word. Please pray as we follow up with people that came.
What does John say in the last book of the Bible? Revelation 21:6, 7 “He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers (is faithful) will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.’” Revelation 22:7 “And behold, I am coming soon. ‘Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.’” Let’s be faithful.
Striving to be as He is,
