God’s word. What a blessing that God’s gave us a personal letter consisting of His deeds and His character! We have the ability to open that letter every single day. So many persecuted Christians in the world do not have that privilege. Wouldn’t we want to open it, read and reread it, savor it, let it permeate our life? Of course we would, plus it wonderfully enhances our intimacy with God.
John the apostle starts off his gospel saying that the Word was God. He refers to Jesus in the flesh as the Word. There is significance to that reference.
We must prayerfully engage the Holy Spirit as we read, meditate, let the Word exhort, correct, and uplift our spirits. We listen to Him and look for direction, perspective, encouragement, and hope for this life and our life to come.
Psalm 119 highlights many benefits of the Scriptures. God‘s holy Word:
- Blesses us
- Comforts us
- Preserves our life
- Helps us deal with affliction
- Guides us in the way we should go
- Gives us freedom to speak boldly and confidently before others
- Helps us deal with temptations and forgiveness of sins
- Gives us the most accurate picture of who our God is
There are so many other things that are mentioned in that glorious chapter of the Bible. The Psalmist says often in that chapter to “teach me to love and delight in your law.” As we love God‘s Word and His teachings, we will love our God stronger and deeper.
I could not be more excited about what God is doing in our ministry. 10 new mentor matches have been made just within the last week. New studies have started in all our cities. Deep conversations with others about walking with Christ, knowing Christ, and living with purpose continue in YBL, WBL, and YBL Second Half daily. I am blessed to do what I do.
Please join me in prayer that we would be faithful and diligent to fulfill God‘s plan and purpose. Pray that we would have supernatural strength and stamina, along with discernment as we meet with people. And join us in giving thanks to our Savior for your involvement with us. We are a team; working together to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
Let me close with these two verses. Psalm 119:10-11, “I seek you with all my heart, do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” (NIV)
