The Fall Breakfast Was the Beginning
by Johnny Presley
Last week’s Fall Breakfast was a real encouragement. It was good to be in the room together—to be reminded that God is still at work in Birmingham, and that faithful men can strengthen a city.
But last week’s event is not the finish line. It’s a starting point.
After a big event like that, it can be easy to go back into handling work pressure, decisions, and temptations on your own, but here’s the problem:
You were not meant to walk alone.
Why this matters more than you think:
Sin has a way of impacting us if we let it. It trains our hearts toward fear of man, love of comfort, and quiet compromise. And most of the time, that doesn’t happen with a dramatic collapse. It happens slowly—when nobody’s asking questions, nobody’s praying with you, and nobody really knows what’s going on.
That’s why the Bible keeps calling Christians into intentional, steady relationships.
Hebrews says we should “stir up one another to love and good works” and not drift away from meeting together, but keep encouraging each other (Hebrews 10:24–25). Galatians tells us to “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Proverbs is honest about how growth works: “iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17).
You can’t do that from a distance. You can’t do it with occasional contact. It takes real friendship and real consistency.
What YBL Birmingham is here for:
YBL Birmingham exists to help men connect faith and work in a way that’s biblical, relational, and practical.
Events like the Fall Breakfast open the door. But the steady work happens afterwards.
– Weekly small groups where men open Scripture, pray, and speak honestly
– Mentoring relationships where an older man walks with you for a season
– 40+ years of experience serving businessmen, helping them grow into faithful witnesses for Christ.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you reach out. If the Lord used the Fall Breakfast to put this on your mind, don’t brush it off.
We’ll help you take a next step that fits—whether that’s a group, a mentor, or just a conversation.
